Case study

Case study: one listing, 46 photos, 48 hours

An agent sent us every photo of a double-storey Gauteng listing: 46 unedited frames straight off the camera, many angles of the same rooms, empty spaces and furnished ones. Within 48 hours the finished photos came back: the best angle of every room and space, 17 in all, staged or digitally enhanced, plus a ready-to-post description. This page shows exactly what that delivery looked like, with the owner's permission.

Why 46 photos become 17 heroes

Agents photograph generously: four angles of the lounge, three of the kitchen, two of each bedroom. That is exactly right, because more angles help us choose. But a listing does not need fifty staged photos; it needs one show-stopper of every room and space.

So we choose the single best angle of each room and finish that one to a polished, photoreal standard: staged where furniture sells the space, digitally enhanced where the photo just needs lifting. Seventeen finished photos came back, and buyers see each space at its best exactly once.

Four of the 46, as they arrived: the same open-plan area from four angles. One was the keeper, and it came back staged.

Drag to compare

Six deliveries from the set, one for each kind of space in the house: the open-plan lounge, the main bedroom, a child's room, a bathroom, the pool deck, and the front elevation as a dusk shot. Drag the handle, or tap Before and After, to compare each photo the agent sent with the photo we returned. The full set is in our before and after gallery. See the full before and after gallery.

What got staged, room by room

The open-plan living area arrived with dated couches; they came out, and a modern lounge went in. The empty dining corner gained a dining zone and the island got seating and fresh fruit. Upstairs, a sparse pyjama lounge became a full lounge and dining corner, three bedrooms were staged around their own features, and the children's bunk room came back as a plush double, with the resident Pikachu still in place.

Bathrooms got towels, plants and styling, never new fittings. The scullery's coffee corner was dressed with small appliances and marked digitally enhanced, not staged. The pool deck gained an outdoor lounge, and the front elevation, shot at midday, came back as a dusk photo with an evening sky and the interior lights on.

What we never touch

Every wall, window, floor, fitting and finish stayed exactly as photographed, defects included. Every staged image carries a visible mark, the description discloses the staging, and the agent keeps the originals. Photos are deleted after 30 days, in line with POPIA.

And when a listing needs more

Ask us and a delivery can also include a dusk version of the best exterior at no extra cost: a warm evening sky over the same photo, yours to use or skip. This listing's exteriors worked in daylight, so they were enhanced as shot. Choose a look for the staging too: modern, minimalist, classic, luxury, coastal or Scandinavian, or let us pick to suit the home.
